Rain Postpones Wolverine Invitational, Women Golfers Hope To Get 18 In Sunday

ANN ARBOR, MICH. ? The Indiana State University women's golf team played four hours before the skies opened and play was suspended at the Wolverine Invitational, hosted by the University of Michigan, on Saturday.

“We were ready to play and are very disappointed that Saturday's play was cancelled,” Mike Whitson, Indiana State Women's Golf coach said. “We would like to play 36 on Sunday but I do not think that is going to happen.”

Tournament officials waited for two hours after suspending play Saturday morning, but had to cancel the first two rounds of the tournament due to heavy rain throughout the area. Officials are planning to play an 18-hole tournament on Sunday, depending on the weather.

“There has been lots of rain,” Whitson said. “There is water everywhere. I hope that they can get the course playable and at least get 18 in on Sunday. The team would rather play 36 on Sunday but I do not think that is going to happen.”

The 18 hole tournament will begin at 9 a.m. (ET) but, due to weather conditions, no live scoring will be available.
