ST. LOUIS ? Indiana State senior women's basketball player
Laura Rudolphi is one of 10 student-athletes to earn the State Farm MVC Good
Neighbor Award as announced by the league office this week for her efforts in
the classroom, on the court and in the community this past winter.
Rudolphi,
who recently completed her playing career in the State Farm MVC Tournament
earlier this month in St. Charles, Mo., currently holds a 3.98 grade-point average in
Business Insurance. In addition to exploits on the playing court, which
includes school records for career blocked shots and games played; Rudolphi has
been a model citizen both in the classroom and in the community.
She is a
two-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America, including a First Team mention
this past season. Rudolphi has also been a two-time All-MVC Scholar Athlete, a
two-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District selection and was the 2007 MVC
Prairie Farms Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She was also a candidate for the
2007-08 Lowe's Senior Class Award and has been a member of the Athletic
Director's Honor Roll every semester.
In
addition, Rudolphi is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Business Fraternity and
is the current President of Indiana State's Student Athlete Advisory Committee
(SAAC) as well as a member of The Valley's SAAC. Rudolphi has also participated
in the MVC's State Farm “Just Read” program and has volunteered in the Wabash Valley with the Children's Museum, Susan
G. Komen For The Cure Wabash Valley Affiliate, St. Joseph's University Parish, KidSmart, the
Wabash Valley United Way Days of Caring and the Indiana State University
Insurance and Risk Management Oktoberfest Golf Outing.
In order
to be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must be in good academic
standing, must demonstrate good citizenship through good sportsmanship and
significant community service, and must participate in a sport, during the
season of recognition. The Valley will recognize 10
student-athletes three times annually (fall, winter, spring), for a total of 30
honorees. Institutions select their Good Neighbor Award honorees.
This
winter's honorees around The Valley were: Kelly Krumwiede of Bradley, Sam
Schuett of Creighton, Lindsay Whorton of Drake, Rebekah Parker of Evansville,
Kristi Cirone of Illinois State, Rudolphi, Amy Crowder of Missouri State, Chris
Lawson of Northern Iowa, Erica Smith of Southern Illinois, and Whitney Rice of
Wichita State.
