COLUMBUS, Ind. - Running her first ever marathon, former Indiana State student-athlete Dani Prince won the 2008 Nationwide Columbus Marathon on Sunday. Prince, who now runs for Brooks Team Indiana Elite, started conservatively and negative split the race, running half-marathon splits of 1:26:33 and 1:22:13 to finish in 2:48:56.
Prince, a native of Bloomington, Ind., competed in cross country and track at Indiana State from 2003-2007. While at ISU, Prince was a multiple all-Missouri Valley Conference selection in track & field and was the conference champion in the 10,000 meters at the 2007 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
Future races being considered by Prince and fellow Brooks Team USA Indiana teammates and 2008 U.S .Olympic Trials Marathon qualifiers Jessica Gall and Camille Herron include the Amaco Houston Half-Marathon in January 2009, the Stanford Invitational 10k in March 2009, and possibly the Boston Marathon in April 2009.
