KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ? In one of the premier races of the outdoor track and field season, the Indiana State Sycamores put together some solid individual performances against some of the nation's best athletes on Friday at the annual Sea Ray Relays hosted by the University of Tennessee.

Highlighting the day for the men was the race of Eric Schulz who recorded a time of 15:37.43 in the 5,000 meter run to win the event. He beat out Ed Horton of Kentucky by over seven seconds in the winning the race. Also solid in the event was Tony Mcdaniel, who finished sixth with a time of 15:59.29.

In the 4x1500 meter relay, the Sycamores finished third with a time of 16:44.75 while Sean Wright's time of 47.73 was good enough for 13th place overall in the 400 meter dash. Bryant Kent's time of 49.50 place him in 34th place at the event.

In the 110 meter hurdles, Michael Roberts posted a time of 14.98 to finish in 33rd place while Tykeen Fulton completed the event in a time of 15:34 to finish in 35th place. Gary Ogburn's time of 10.76 seconds in the 100 meter dash was good enough for 41st place.

On the women's side, Kelsey Hanley's distance of 148'11” was good enough for seventh place in the discus throw while she placed 21st in the hammer.

Kylie Hutson was solid in the pole vault as her jump of 13' 3.5” placed her seventh in the competition while Amanda Barlage's leap of 11' 11.75” placed her 16th.

Mary Kate Conway had a solid showing in the 400 meter dash as her time of 56.63 was good enough for 14th place while Rachel Posey's time of 1:00.57 placed her in 49th place. In the 5,000 meter run, the Sycamores were paced by Emily Pugh, whose time of 11:02.47 was 20th just ahead of Bethany Scruton, who finished with a time of 11:26.17 in 27th place.

Cori Carr placed 24th in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.57 while her time of 15.38 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles was good enough for 36th place.

Rounding out action for the track and field program on the day was Jaquelle Spencer , whose time of 12.47 seconds in the 100 meter dash was good enough for 37th place.

Both teams will complete action Saturday at the Sea Ray Relays. Several of the events scheduled for late in the evening have been postponed until tomorrow.
