Tammy Shike

Tammy Shike has worked with the Indiana State University Spirit Squads since 2003 and also leads the program's Community Service efforts.

In her role with the Sycamores, Shike coordinates the cheerleaders, Sparkettes and Sycamore Sam. Shike holds tryouts for the spirit squads each spring and selects the team members and then coaches them at their sports events performances throughout the year. She also organizes department-wide community service opportunties, headlined by The Special Olympics Summer Games which are held annually each year at Indiana State.

Having grown up in Terre Haute, Shikes says the Cheer and Dance Team were highly respected and regarded in the area. It is our goal to maintain and improve upon that reputation both locally and nationally.

The Spirit Squad Members are ambassadors for the University as well as the community. We have performers who have been delighted to be recognized as "Spirit Squad" and that shows that we are achieving that goal. The Spirit Squad Organization is a wonderful way to become an integral part of Indiana State University. The responsibility of representing the University is a source of great pride for all involved. Friendships formed will last a lifetime.

In addition to her duties at Indiana State, Shike has owned and directed A+ All Star Productions for 37 years and led many local dancers to state, regional and national dance honors out of her studio.

She is married to Paul Shike and the couple resides in Terre Haute. Her daughter, Taylor Schaeffer is the deputy Chief of Staff for the City of Indianapolis.
