  • Title
Assistant Coach / Wide Receivers / Pro Scout Liaison
Overton joined the Indiana State football coaching staff in January 2025 working with the Sycamores wide receivers.

Overton spent the 2024 season on the staff at Texas Tech working with the Red Raider wide receiving corps. Texas Tech’s offense was ranked fourth national in scoring offense (37.6) and ninth for both total offense (462.7) and passing offense (296.7) over the course of the 2024 season due in part to the resurgence of the TTU wide receiver room.

Over his season in Lubbock, Texas Tech featured three receivers with at least 600 yards including Josh Kelly, Caleb Douglas, and Coy Eakin – marking the first time since 2018 and only the fourth time since 2010 the Red Raiders had three 600-yard receivers in the same season. Kelley became TTU’s first 1,000-yard receiver since 2018 and was the FBS leader with 32 catches on third downs. The Red Raider receiver converted 19 of those receptions for first downs for a Tech offense that led the Big 12 and was ranked 10th nationally in first downs offense.

Overton joined the Red Raiders following two seasons in a similar capacity at Vanderbilt. The Commodores marked Overton’s third position at the college level as he was previously the wide receivers coach at Dayton in 2021 as well as at Franklin College in 2020.

Overton has also worked at the NFL level as he was selected for the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship position with the Carolina Panthers in 2023.
