Ellen Sawin beings her second season as an assistant coach at Indiana State with the 2014 season. She was hired as an assistant volleyball coach for the Indiana State Sycamores in July of 2013. During her time as a coach for the Sycamores, she’ll also be pursuing her Master’s Degree in Curriculum, Instruction and Media Technology at Indiana State.

 

Prior to Indiana State, Sawin spent four years playing for the University of Evansville Purple Aces and graduated in May of 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Communications Design. A 6’-0” setter from Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox, Ill., she concluded her time at Evansville as second in school history for career assists.

 

As an Ace, the two-year team captain earned several athletic and academic awards including being named to the 2008 MVC All-Freshmen Team, multiple All-Tournament teams, and the 2012 UE Female Student-Athlete of the Year. She has spent time coaching both collegiate and high school camps at Lincoln-Way Central and UE.

 

Upon graduating with her Master’s, she hopes to continue coaching collegiate volleyball.
