Sara Riedeman enters her fifth year as an assistant coach with the Indiana State Women’s Basketball program in 2016-17.
With the Sycamores, Riedeman oversees the Sycamore Squad, organizes the team’s summer camps and men’s practice squad.
During her fourth year with the program in 2015-16, Indiana State saw two earn MVC Scholar Athlete accolades in Kelsey Dirks and Rhagen Smith and an All-MVC Honorable Mention selection in Cierra Ceazer. A team made up of primarily newcomers, Eaton helped redshirt sophomore Ashley Taia finish second in points per game (9.0) as she picked up three MVC Newcomer of the Week awards. Freshman point guard Jennifer Mackowiak earned her way into a starting role while freshman guard Tierra Webb appeared in all 30 games in a reserve role for the Sycamores.
She guided the Sycamores to a 17-13 overall finish in the 2014-15 season and one of the best non-conference performances in program history, going 10-1 overall. Wins against non-conference foes included a win at Big 10 Indiana and the program’s first win over a ranked opponent when it defeated No. 25 St. John’s on its home court.
In 2013-14, Riedeman helped guide ISU to its first Missouri Valley Conference regular season title in eight seasons and a 20-12 overall record and 14-4 conference mark. They also advanced to their second straight WNIT appearance and posted just its fifth 20-win season in program history.
She assisted the Sycamores to an 18-win season and a spot in the postseason for the first time since 2005-06. Riedeman came to ISU after spending four seasons as the head coach at Roncalli High School in Indianapolis.
Indiana State posted an 18-13 record in 2012-13, advancing to the Postseason Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). ISU’s 18 wins were their most since 2006-07 and the team’s 10-8 record within the Missouri Valley Conference was ISU’s best since 2008-09.
Defense was key to Indiana State’s success in 2012-13, as the Sycamores set a program record for the fewest points allowed per game for a single season. Indiana State held 10 opponents to less than 50 points in a game while their opponents averaged 55.5 points per game for the season.
Riedeman played three seasons (2002-05) at the University of Indianapolis during Moren's tenure with the Greyhounds, setting the school record by knocking down 44.2% (149-for-337) of her three-point shots for her career. Indianapolis posted three straight 20-win seasons from 2002-05, going 74-22 during her time in school as a student-athlete.
While at Roncalli from 2008-2012, Riedeman led the Rebels to a 68-28 record in four seasons, winning three straight sectional championships from 2009-2011 and one regional title (2010-11). Before Roncalli, Riedeman served as an assistant coach at Bishop Chatard High School from 2005-08, supporting the team to the Class 3A State Championship game in 2008.
Riedeman worked as the head coach with three AAU programs in the state of Indiana from 2005-2012, including: Indiana's Finest 14 and under (2005-2008), Indiana Legends 15 and under (2008-2010) and Indiana Elite 17 (2011-2012).
Riedeman resides in Terre Haute, Ind.
