points, second best total in school history.

Placed fourth in pole vault at MVC Indoor Championships by clearing 15’-7.25”
(4.76 meters) … had personal best vault of 15’-9” (4.80 meters) at Grand Valley
Big Meet … had season best time of 7.19 in 60 meters at EIU Friday Night
Special … named to MVC Scholar-Athlete team.
2010 –
Competed in 60 meters, 200 meters, pole vault, and heptathlon … ran personal
best 7.08 in 60 meters at Eastern Illinois Dual and 22.66 in 200 meters at Iowa
State Classic … scored 5,039 points (second best in school history) in
heptathlon in placing sixth at MVC Indoors … placed ninth in pole vault at MVC
Indoors with vault of 15’-7.25” … had personal best vault of 15’-9” at Tiger
Invitational.
2009 – Had
second best vault on team and a personal best at 15’7” in pole vault at MVC
Indoor Championships … also competed in long jump and 4x400 meter relay.

in 200 meters in 23.19 and 17th in 100 meters in 11.66 at MVC Outdoors … member
4x400 relay team that finished sixth at MVC Outdoors in 3:21.38 … named to MVC
Track & Field Scholar-Athlete team.
2009 – Had
personal best and team best vault of 16’0.25” in pole vault at Billy Hayes
Invitational … ran personal best 10.98 in 100 meters (5/8), had personal best
throw of 149’1” in javelin (5/2), and personal best 6,351 points in decathlon
(MVC Outdoor Championships).
2008 – Competed
in decathlon, 400 meters, 1500 meters, and pole vault … placed ninth at MVC
Outdoor Championships in decathlon with 6,144 points … ran 50.31 in 400 meters
and had vault of 14’-1” in pole vault at MVC Outdoor Championships.

Steven Ray Swinford III
was born on Nov. 25, 1988, in Kokomo, Ind., the son of Kathy and Mike Garretson
… majoring in Health and Physical Education … interests include being outdoors
and being with family and friends … sister, Stacey Swinford, played softball
for two years at the University of Saint Francis and is now a senior playing
softball at IPFW … brother, Aaron Garretson, is on the track team at Indiana
State.
