2012 – Competed at Bradley Open, running three mile race in 21:46 to finish 74th.
Indoor Track & Field –
2014 - Higginbottom competed in events ranging from 400-800 meters and was a key member of the 4 x 400 meter relay team. She had a season best time of 57.42 seconds for 400 meters at the Badger Invite, followed by a career best 600 meter run time of 1:32.35 at Indiana Relays. She ran a season best in the 800 meter run at the MVC prelim in 2:13.96, before placing seventh in the final with a time of 2:16.49.
2013 – Named All-Conference in 4x400 meter relay for third straight year … ran anchor leg of 4x400 meter relay that finished third at MVC Indoors in 3:47.42 … ran anchor leg of 4x400 meter relay that set school record with a time of 3:41.65 at Tyson Invitational … ran third leg on distance medley relay that had season best 11:56.14 at Indiana Relays … ran career best 2:13.37 in 800 meters at Meyo Invitational and 1:34.43 in 600 meters at EIU Early Bird … placed sixth in 800 meters at MVC Indoors (2:15.81) … ran season best 57.45 in 400 meters at Indiana Relays.
2012 – Named All-Conference in 4x400 meter relay for second straight year … ran second leg of 4x400 meter relay that finished second at MVC Indoors in 3:44.75, third fastest time in school history … ran season bests of 25.77 in 200 meters at Meyo Invitational and 56.29 in 400 meters at GVSU Big Meet … had season best leap of 18’-2.25” (5.54 meters) in long jump at Edmonds Cup … placed 11th in long jump (18’-1”) and 12th in 400 meters (57.73) at MVC Indoors.
2011 – Named All-Conference in 4x400 meter relay … ran opening leg of 4x400 relay team that placed third at MVC Indoor Championships with time of 3:49.93 … placed fifth in long jump at MVC Indoors by tying personal best of 18’-7” (5.66 meters) … placed eighth in 400 meters at MVC Indoors with time of 57.77 … ran personal best 25.63 in 200 meters at Grand Valley Big Meet, 56.96 in 400 meters at Wisconsin Women’s Invitational, and 2:21.52 in 800 meters at EIU Early Bird … was member of 4x400 relay team that ran season best 3:49.07 at Edmonds Cup.

2013 - Named All-Conference as member of 4x400 meter relay team … ran opening leg of 4x400 that set school record and MVC Championship record (3:38.6) in winning MVC title … ran third leg of 1600 sprint medley relay that ran second fastest time in school history (3:53.34) at Drake Relays … won 400 meters at Billy Hayes in season best time (56.63) … ran collegiate best (2:14.18) in 800 meters in placing ninth at Jesse Owens … placed 11th at MVC Outdoors (2:16.12).
2012 – Competed in 400 meters, 800 meters, and long jump … posted career best of 56.33 in 400 meters at Auburn Tiger Classic and 2:15.02 in 800 meters at Polytan Invitational … had season best leap of 17’-6” (5.33 meters) in long jump at Polytan Invitational … ran opening led of 4x800 meter relay that ran third fastest time in school history of 9:02.75 at EIU Big Blue Classic … ran third leg of 4x400 meter relay that finished in 3:40.17 at Drake Relays.
2011 – Placed eighth in the 400 meters at the MVC Outdoor Championships with time of 57.01 after running personal best 56.74 in the preliminaries … ran personal best 26.11 in 200 meters at Pacesetter Invitational … ran personal best 2:23.75 in 800 meters at ISU-EIU Ice Dual … member 4x400 relay team that ran season best 3:45.47 at Drake Relays and 3:46.07 at the MVC Outdoors to place fourth.

Competed in cross country and track & field all four years at North Central High School … named All-State in 200 meters, 800 meters, and long jump … received several awards including Most Points, Ladybird Pride, and Most Valuable Player … set school records in 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, and long jump.

Shelby Dawn Higginbottom was born on July 8, 1991, in Shelburn, Ind., the daughter of Billie and Cobe Higginbottom … majoring in Nursing at Indiana State with plans to become a psychiatric nurse.
