Competed for four years at Mooresville High School … qualified for the state championships as freshman in 400 meters where he placed 25th (50.97) … placed 10th in 400 meters as sophomore (50.11) … finished 33rd at state cross country as junior … placed 17th as senior (15:49.50) … all-state in 800 meters finishing ninth as senior (1:55.61) … was also 11th in 1600 meters as junior (4:16.81) … finished second in 3200 meters (9:31.58) at indoor state championships as junior.
