2014 - Conference Champion in 2014 in the Pole Vault. Ferrell enjoyed a successful first season as a Sycamore winning the MVC title in the pole vault, clearing 16 feet 8.75 inches. He had the fourth best clearance in school history at the Indiana Relays, clearing 16 feet 10.25 inches.
Before ISU
Ferrell competed in Track and Field for 2 years under Coach Johnston at Merrillville High School. In his time there Ferrell was able to earn All-State honors in the pole vault, as well as a school record clearance of 15'4.
Personal
Byron Lamar Ferrell was born December 5, 1991 in Merrillville, Indiana to Joyce and Leroy Ferrell. He has two siblings; LaRoi and Garrett Ferrell. He is majoring in Mechanical Engineering Technology with plans to work in product engineering for a manufacturing company after graduation. His hobbies include basketball, rebuilding cars, watching scrubs and long walks on the beach.
