Coach Heinzman compleded her first season with the Sycamores after playing collegiately for Bouman at South Dakota State and the University of Iowa.

In her first season, Heiznman worked primarily with the Sycamore outfielders and hitters. As a team Heinzman helped coach the team to school records in RBI's, Runs scored, Total Bases and Hits as the team advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.

Heinzman also coached sophomore Rylee Holland to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Tournament team after her performance in the 2015 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Championship the Sycamores won for the first time in program history.

“We are very excited to have Sam join our staff," Bouman said. "She brings a complete offensive dynamic to the team that will greatly impact our hitters and her knowledge on the bases will fit right in with our aggressive style of softball."

Heinzman completed her career at SDSU earning All Independent honors in 2007 as well as All Summit League honors in 2008 and 2009. She also left her mark in the record book, placing top 5 in single season stolen bases with 19. As a senior, Heinzman transferred to the University of Iowa where she started 55  games for the Hawkeyes in centerfield and joined Assistant Coach Amanda Zust in leading the Hawkeyes to a NCAA tournament berth.

"Im glad to be a Sycamore and ready to get started," Heinzman said. "The girls are making me very comfortable already, and I can feel their enthusiasm and expectations for the upcoming season.  Really looking forward to see where we are this fall and to make great strides toward our spring season."
