Tyler Funk

Tyler Funk, joined the Indiana State coaching staff prior to the 2017 season as the tight ends coach and was promoted to recruiting coordinator following the 2019 season. He became the ISU offensive line coach prior to the start of the 2022 season.

Funk guided the offensive line through the 2022 season as the Sycamore unit paved the way for All-Conference running back Justin Dinka, while also protecting the MVC Freshman of the Year in quarterback Cade Chambers. The Sycamore offensive line paved the way for 298.1 yards of total offense, while posting 28:08 in time of possession per game. ISU posted at least 100 rushing yards in 10 of the 11 games, while adding at least 150 passing yards in six contests in 2022. Jose Vazquez IV was named to the MVC All-Conference Honorable Mention squad.

Under Funk's leadership, tight end Zach Larkin was been named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Academic team in 2018 and 2019. 

In his first season coaching the tight ends, he helped Jacquet McClendon to Second Team All-MVFC honors.

McClendon was the Indiana State leader in receptions with 54 for a total of 595 yards. He finished the regular season fourth in the MVFC in receptions, averaging 11.0 yards per catch and 54.1 yards receiving per game. McClendon had a team high four receiving touchdowns, including a 73-yard receiving touchdown against Youngstown State.

Funk came to Terre Haute following two seasons as Mount Union’s defensive line coach.

Funk was a two-year member of the football team at Colorado Mesa before working as an intern at Colorado State – then under current Florida head coach Jim McElwain.
