Smith enters his third season in the role of director of football operations in 2019. His duties include team travel, day-to-day operations, and serving as a liaison between the football program and academic services, compliance, training, equipment, strength and conditioning, and the athletic department.

Smith is also heavily involved in fundraising efforts and has played a major role in remodeling the football offices on campus and improvements at Memorial Stadium.

Prior to Indiana State, Smith worked with his father and current Indiana State coach, Mark Smith, at Florida Tech in a similar capacity.
