Biography

 

2015 – Played in 21 games making 12 starts… Started 10 games at catcher and designated hitter twice… Hit for a .200 average (10-for-50)… Had two extra-base hits, a double and a home run… Recorded nine RBI and scored five runs… Against Canisius (Mar. 15) finished 1-for-3 with his first home run, four RBI and a run scored… As a pinch hitter against Wichita State (Apr. 4), drew a walk and came around to score… Against Illinois State (Mar. 15), finished 2-for-4 with two RBI.

 

2014 - Appeared in 8 games with five starts... hit for a .278 (5-for-18) average... scored four runs and plated three... against UNC-Wilmington (Mar. 15) went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored... pinch hit against Illinois State (Mar. 30) and Wichita State (Apr. 5) where he drew walks and later scored.

 

2013 – Started 11 games behind the plate with seven appearances off the bench as a freshman … tallied his first career run batted in against South Dakota State on March 9 on a sacrifice fly … went 2-for-3 against Minnesota inside the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome on March 16 for his first collegiate hits … also drove in one run on a sacrifice fly against Alcorn State on May 11 … scored his lone run for the season against Auburn on February 24.

High School - A three-time all-state selection under head coach Mark Varriano at Red River High School ... also named to the all-conference team four times ... hit above .350 in all four seasons at RRHS, including a team-leading .419 as a junior with 13 doubles, one home run and 37 RBIs ... a three-sport athlete while at RRHS, also lettering in football and hockey ... also earned all-state selection on the gridiron.

 

Personal – Taylor Scott Steen was born on Aug. 6, 1993, in Alexandria, Minn., the son of Carla and Scott Steen ... majoring in Sports Management ... has three siblings, Logan, Lexi and Jada ... his father, Scott, played baseball for two seasons at Ventura Junior College and was drafted in the first round (15th overall) by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 1985 MLB Draft.
