John Sherman

John Sherman is in his 15th season as a member of the Indiana State Athletic Department. As Senior Assistant Athletic Director, he oversees a variety of areas including the Indiana State Athletics Hall of Fame, ticketing, archives as well as serves as sport supervisor for both football and baseball among other duties.
 
Under his leadership, the marketing and promotional efforts both in and out of game have improved to new levels. Sherman has also been able to successfully market the Universities 15 intercollegiate sports on a national level through The Valley On ESPN3 as well as other digital media platforms.
 
Sherman graduated from Indiana State University in 1988 with a bachelor’s of science in journalism and earned the Indiana State Sportscaster of the Year award in 1987 and 1988. Prior to Indiana State, Sherman was a graduate of Putnam High School in Putnam, Conn., in 1984 where he was a two-sport athlete in both basketball and baseball.
 
A New England native, Sherman hails from Putnam, Conn., and has a wife, Christy, and a son, Jack. His wife Christy was inducted into the Indiana State Hall of Fame in 2000 after a stellar track & field career. His son Jack plays football for the Sycamores. Some of the Sherman's hobbies include volunteer coaching and he also is a member of the Jay Barrett Athletic Foundation Board.
