Jacob Winzenread joins the Indiana State baseball staff as a graduate assistant in the fall of 2026. He joins the Sycamores following a collegiate playing career that includes stints at Southern Indiana and Oakland City, before becoming a scout for Prep Baseball Indiana.
Winzenread comes to the Sycamores following a standout 2026 campaign at Oakland City where he earned River State All-Conference Third Team recognition after posting a .318 batting average with five home runs, 15 doubles, and 31 RBIs. He appeared in 54 games while starting 53 contests.
Prior to his time at Oakland City, Winzenread lined up and played three seasons at Southern Indiana. He lined up in 37 games while starting 14 contests over the 2023, 2024, and 2025 seasons. He posted a pair of doubles, while driving in three RBIs and scoring four runs over his career. Off the field, he was a three-time member of the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
Over his high school career, Winzenread was a First Team All-State, All-MIC Player of the Year, All-USI Central Indiana Super Team, All-Marion County, Indiana South All-Star, and Academic All-State honors as a senior at Lawrence North High School.
He graduated with his degree in sport management from Southern Indiana in the summer of 2026.
