Played two years at Kirkwood Community College under head coach Todd Rima … Helped lead his team to a regional and conference championship … Also participated in the Junior College World Series A two-way player at Kirkwood playing both the outfield and pitching ... Went 2-0 on the mound in a pair of starts ... Pitched one complete game and finished the season with 12 innings ... Struck out 15 batters and allowed just two earned runs ... Finished with a 1.50 ERA in four appearances ... Played in the field in 48 games, hitting .291 with 41 base hits ... Homered four times to go along with five doubles and a triple ... Scored 32 runs and drove in 28  while drawing 23 walks ... Finished the season with a .394 on-base percentage and a .426 slugging percentage … A four year letterman at Urbandale High School … Earned First Team All-State honors … Helped lead his team to the State tournament … Also lettered in basketball and football.
