2008 Season: Started all 50 games for the Sycamores. Led team with a .374 batting average, .505 slugging percentage and stolen bases with 21. Was named to the ESPN The Magazine District V Academic First Team, Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete First Team and second team All-Missouri Valley Conference.
2007: Led team with .368 batting average while starting all 50 games he played in. Had 10 doubles, two triples, three home runs and 30 RBI, striking out only 24 times in 204 plate appearances. Was 13-of-15 in stolen bases. Named to All-Missouri Valley Conference second team as designated hitter and was a first team selection to the MVC Scholar-Athlete team.
2006: Started in 10 games, while also competing in 10. Had eight total hits with an RBI. Stole three bases out of three attempted.
2005: Named ot the All-MVC Second Team as a designated hitter ... Earned First Team All-MVC Scholar Athlete honors, with his 3.91 GPA leading the conference ... Posted a .313 batting average ... Third in the league with 25 stolen bases ... Totaled three triples and was third on the team with 40 runs ... Was 6-for-9 with five RBI and five runs in back-to-back games against South Dakota State (April 9-10) ... Recorded career-high four hits in five at-bats with two runs and two RBI against Saint Louis (April 19) ... Perfect 2-for-2 with a double, RBI and run scored in two pinch-hit appearances in the Northern Iowa series (April 2-3) ... Tallied multiple hits in 14 contests ... Played in 53 games and made 47 starts while also participating in spring football drills.
2004: Played in seven games for the baseball squad ... Earned a start against Southern Illinois ... Drew a walk and scored against MSU (May 2) ... Posted his first collegiate hit against Viterbo (March 20) ... Also played in eight games for the football team this fall on the defensive side of the ball, making 42 tackles ... Tallied a sack, interception and forced a fumble.
High School: A four-year letterwinner in football, basketball and baseball ... Jasper’s starting centerfielder for three years and was a member of the 2000 3-A State Championship team ... In basketball, Chris was a part of the back-to-back sectional (2001-2002) championship teams as well as the 2002 Regional Championship squad ... Academically, he ranked 17th in his class (of 241) with a 3.944 GPA.
Personal: Born on Nov. 22, 1984, in Jasper, IN, the son of Mark and Kathy Schmidt. Majoring in Computer Hardware Technology. Has twin brother Ben who played football at Indiana State (2003-2007) and brother Luke who is playing football at Notre Dame (2006-present). Also has sister Lauren.
