Sean T. Whiten,’83 Memorial Fund
Sean’s Indiana State University Football teammates were drawn to his energy, his love of life and his sense of humor. His contributions to the Sycamore football team, both on and off the field, went far beyond his dedication and perseverance. Sean’s loyalty to his team and the game of football helped to build the comradery and culture so necessary for a full experience. After graduation, Sean served as a firefighter in his hometown located south of Pittsburgh. While in the line of duty, he tragically lost his life.
The Sean T. Whiten,’83 Memorial Fund is a special tribute to Sean and his Indiana State Football legacy from his teammates, coaches and Sycamore family. Each year, a Sycamore Football player is selected to receive an honorary award. The player must a junior or senior whose work ethic and respect for the program, coaches and teammates best represent the passion and excellence that Sean demonstrated. The recipient will also exemplify service to the greater Indiana State University community.
