Doug Reifsteck had arguably the greatest wrestling career in the history of the program at Indiana State. From 1980-84, Reifsteck tallied a school-record 137 victories. Included in that was an amazing sophomore season, in which he finished the season ranked eighth in the country after advancing to the NCAA National quarterfinals.

In 1982, he tallied a single-season record 46 victories and three tournament wins, including the NCAA Midwest Regional title. Overall, he was a three-time NCAA national qualifier on the mat.

Reifsteck was also excellent in the classroom as he earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors in 1983 and finished his collegiate career with a 3.99 GPA in business management. He was honored with the Olympia Award in 1984, which was given to 24 athletes nationwide out of 19 different sports whose athletic performance and character most closely followed the Olympic ideal.
