Edward F. Slezak, a 1974 graduate of Indiana State University, was ISU’s first four time All-American, earning the honor in men’s gymnastics in each of his four seasons of competition. After winning two state championships in the pommelhorse as a member of the Hinsdale Central gymnastics team, Slezak continued his championship competition at Indiana State under Coach Roger Counsil.

Slezak was the NCAA champion in the pommelhorse during his junior year (1973), leading the Sycamores to a third place finish in the team standings. Slezak also placed second in his freshmen season (1971) and lost the championship his senior year (1974) by just 25 thousandths of a point to his former high school teammate Ted Marcy of Stanford. He was also third during his sophomore season (1972).

During his four years at Indiana State, the gymnastics team was 44-6. He is currently the assistant girls gymnastic coach at New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois.
