Indiana State University Athletics

Official Visits

An “official” campus visit by a prospective student-athlete (“prospect”) is a visit that is financed in any way by Indiana State University.  Official visits may be made by high school students after their first day of classes in their senior year, high school graduates, and two-year or four-year college transfers (except non-qualifiers in their first year at a two-year college).

The NCAA limits each prospect to a total of five official visits and only one visit may be made to any NCAA institution. This restriction applies even if a prospect is being recruited in more than one sport. Five additional visits may be used after October 15 following the prospect's senior year of high school.

In order for a prospect to take an official visit to Indiana State University, the prospect must provide the University with:

 - A copy of a high school or two-year college transcript. (Not needed if on file with the NCAA Eligibility Center)

 - For high school students, a copy of a PACT, ACT, PSAT, or SAT score from an official examination taken on a national testing date under national testing conditions.  If test scores are on file with the NCAA Eligibility Center, no hard copies are needed.

 - Must be registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center and have an NCAA ID number.

 - An official visit to Indiana State University may not last longer than 48 hours, which starts when the prospect arrives on Indiana State's campus or entertainment of the prospect begins at any site. The prospect must then depart Indiana State University’s campus within 48 hours from the beginning of the visit.

 - During the official visit, Indiana State University may provide a prospect (and the prospect’s parents/spouse) with meals, lodging, and complimentary admissions to University athletic events. Complimentary admissions to Indiana State University athletic events are issued through a pass list.

While on an official visit to Indiana State, it is not permissible for a booster or other non-staff representative of Indiana State University’s Athletics Department to have any contact with a prospect.

The following rules must be complied with by a recruit and their host during the visit:

 1. Only one student-athlete per day can serve as an official host of a recruit.  Other student-athletes can help with hosting the recruit but you, as host, shall ONLY PAY FOR THE RECRUIT'S MEALS AND ENTERTAINMENT FROM FUNDS DISBURSED TO YOU.

  2. A maximum of $30.00 for each day of an Official Visit by a recruit will be provided to cover all actual costs of hosting both you and the recruit (and the recruit’s parents or spouse).  These funds may not be used for the purchase of souvenirs such as shirts or other ISU mementos.  As a host, you will be provided an extra $15.00 per day for each additional recruit you host at the same time.  (These funds do not include cost of meals for the recruit or admission to campus sporting events).

  3. No cash may be given to the recruit or anyone else.

  4. You may not use vehicles provided or arranged for by any coach, staff member or booster.  Never allow a recruit to use your car.

  5. You may not take the recruit (or their family) more than 30 miles from the ISU campus.

  6. You cannot allow recruiting conversations to occur anywhere between the recruit and a booster.  If unplanned meetings happen, you can exchange a pleasant greeting, but then you must stop the conversation at that point.

  7. A visiting prospect  may participate in physical workouts or other recreational activities during a visit to our campus, provided such activities: a) are not observed by members of our athletics department coaching staff; are not arranged by a coach or any other staff member; and c) are not designed to test the athletics abilities of the prospect.

  8. You may receive a complimentary admission (pass list - no hard tickets) when accompanying a prospect to a campus athletic event.

  9. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited when entertaining a recruit; underage drinking is also against the law.  The use of illicit drugs is prohibited and against the law.

  10. Providing/purchasing sexual favors, purchasing pornography or any engagement with sexually explicit material is inappropriate and prohibited.

  11. No gambling/gaming/sports wagering activities.

  12. Curfew: 11:00 PM if classes meet the next day and at 1:00 AM if classes do not meet the next day.

  13. Recruits are forbidden to visit with or be interviewed by any member of the media during their visit.
