Promotional Activities

Student-athletes may participate in limited promotional activities. However, approval by the Compliance Office is required in order to ensure that NCAA requirements are met and that eligibility is not jeopardized.

In order for a student-athlete to participate in any promotional activity, a Student-Athlete Promotional Activities Form must be completed and approved by the Compliance Office. Pre-approval must occur prior to the activity.

NCAA Bylaw 12.5.1.1 permits Indiana State University or a charitable or educational group to use a student-athlete's name, picture or appearance to support a charitable event, provided the student-athlete receives approval prior to the event, the student-athlete does not miss class, and the student-athlete and an authorized representative of the charitable or educational agency sign a release statement ensuring that the student-athlete's name, picture or appearance is used in a manner consistent with the requirements of NCAA legislation.

Per NCAA Bylaw 12.1.2, student-athletes should note that their eligibility may be jeopardized by third-party sale of a signed item. Thus, for example, a student-athlete's eligibility would be jeopardized if a student-athlete signed a uniform for an individual and that individual ultimately sold the item via e-Bay.
