Grant-in-Aid Procedure

Coaches are required to complete and submit the ISU Athletic Financial Aid Renewal and Non-Renewal Forms as soon as possible after the conclusion of their respective seasons or as soon as possible after the conclusion of the academic year. These forms can be found on this website.

All non-renewal decisions must be sent in writing to the affected student athlete who was on athletic aid in the previous year, regardless of amount. Notifications of the non-renewal decision shall be forwarded by the Compliance Office to the ISU Financial Aid Office. The financial aid office , under NCAA rules, is solely responsible for sending the notice of non-renewal to the student athletes in writing to the mailing address on file with ISU.

For those student athletes who are having their athletic aid renewed, the Renewal Form should be completed and submitted to the Compliance Office as soon as possible and preferably before the student athletes leave campus for summer vacation so that the actual scholarship document ("GIA") can be prepared and signed before they leave.

For those student athletes who are returning to school, but were NOT on athletic aid the prior year, the coach must complete and submit the Request for NLI/Grant in Aid Form on this website. Since they did not receive aid the prior year, these student athletes do NOT belong on the "Renewal Form."

Athletic aid must be written for no more and no less than a full academic year. There are exceptions to this general rule; however, please consult with the Compliance Office for further details. Summer school athletic aid is not included in the award for the regular academic year.

Summer school athletic financial aid and 5th year athletic aid have their own separate and distinct rules and procedures. Please refer to those sections on this website for further details.

If a coach wishes to cancel or terminate an athletic aid award DURING THE TERM OF THE AWARD, the coach must complete the "Roster Change Form" and submit it to the Compliance Office. The rules governing this type of action are strict and limited by NCAA rules.

If a coach wants to increase an athletic scholarship DURING THE TERM OF THE AWARD, the coach must complete and submit the "Mid-Year Scholarship Increase Request Form" on this website and provide the required documentation identified in that form.
