ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Indiana State wide receiver
Jayden Reed (Newcomer) was named among this week's Missouri Valley Football Players of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Reed earns his first MVFC Newcomer of the Week nod and becomes the fifth Sycamore to receive honors from the conference office in the last three weeks.
The St. Louis, Mo. native recorded a career-high eight receptions for 129 yards and two touchdowns as the freshman wide receiver made his MVFC debut a memorable one against No. 8/7 North Dakota. Reed hauled in touchdown receptions of 20 yards and 33 yards, and he added a 49-yard reception in the third quarter that directly led into
Aaron Ball's 10-yard TD rush on the next play.
Reed's 20-yard TD score came on the Sycamores' opening drive of the game, while his 33-yard TD catch came in the fourth quarter to cut the Indiana State deficit down to 42-28.
Reed posted the most receptions by a Sycamore wide receiver since 2024, while his two-touchdown game was Indiana State's first receiving two-TD contest of the season.
Reed currently sits in the top 10 in the MVFC in all major statistical receiving categories including receptions (19 – T-5th), receiving yards (275 – 9th), and receiving touchdowns (4 – T-4th).
