TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State football's Elijah Owens was named this week's Hannig Construction Indiana State Student-Athlete of the Week as announced by the athletic department on Monday afternoon.
 
Owens put in a career performance in Indiana State's 42-35 win over Eastern Illinois on Saturday night as the redshirt junior quarterback threw for 284 yards, ran for 98 yards, and scored five total touchdowns (three passing, two rushing) in the Indiana State win.
 
Owens opened contest with a 45-yard carry to move the ball into Eastern Illinois territory as Indiana State scored on Aaron Ball's touchdown run on the first possession of the game. The quarterback added a one-yard rushing touchdown and scoring passes to both Dane Pardridge (35 yards) and Ball (one yard) as Indiana State built a 28-7 halftime lead. He added a 42-yard scoring pass to BJ Wuest in the third quarter.
 
Owens took over the game late with a 15-yard touchdown run and then converted two late third-down conversions with rushing attempts to run out the clock.
 
Overall, Owens was 21-of-33 through the air for 284 yards and three passing touchdowns, while adding 18 carries for 98 yards and two additional scores. His performance led to him to earning Stats Perform FCS National Offensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention recognition.

The Hannig Construction Indiana State Student-Athlete of the Week will be announced every week throughout the 2026-27 athletic season.
