Sycamores in the NFL – 53-Man Rosters Announced

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Four Indiana State football alumni will line up on Sundays this fall as teams announced their 53-man rosters ahead of the 2026 National Football League (NFL) season.

Robert Tonyan Jr. (Pittsburgh Steelers), Johnathan Edwards (Indianapolis Colts), Bilhal Kone (Baltimore Ravens), and Keagen Trost (Los Angeles Rams) have all been selected to their official rosters heading into NFL season scheduled to start on Wednesday, September 9.

Tonyan Jr. begins his ninth NFL season after signing a free agent deal with the Steelers in the offseason. The tight end first appeared in the league in the 2018 season with the Green Bay Packers and has posted 149 career receptions for 1,550 yards and 17 touchdowns over his eight-year career. Tonyan has highlighted his career with a 52-catch, 586-yard, 11-touchdown season in 2020 while with the Packers, and recently has lined up for the Chicago Bears (2023), Minnesota Vikings (2024), and Kansas City Chiefs (2025) prior to signing with the Steelers.

Edwards heads into his second NFL season as the former undrafted free agent returns to the Indianapolis Colts after a standout rookie campaign. The only undrafted player to make the Colts' 53-man roster, Edwards lined up in 14 games at cornerback, making 25 total tackles while adding three passes defended. He recorded at least four tackles in four games, including a season-high six stops against the Chargers.

Kone heads into his second NFL season as the former 6th-round pick returns to the Baltimore Ravens. The former Sycamore cornerback unfortunately saw his rookie season cut short following a season-ending injury suffered in the 2025 NFL preseason. He will start the regular season on the injured reserve list after suffering a quad injury late in the 2026 preseason that will sideline him for the first four weeks.

Trost heads into his rookie season in the NFL as the 2026 third-round pick was named to the Los Angeles Rams 53-man roster. Trost finished the NFL Combine as one of the top offensive tackle prospects. The former Sycamore will start the 2026 season on the Rams' injured reserve list after suffering a hamstring injury in late August that will require him to miss the first four games of the regular season.
