LEXINGTON, Ky. – Indiana State volleyball continues to lead NCAA Division I and ranks in the top five among all programs across collegiate and high school volleyball after receiving the 2026 Team Academic Award for the 28th-straight year.

The Sycamores are tied for No. 1 among all volleyball programs in the nation in all divisions (NCAA D1, DII, and DIII; NAIA; NJCAA) with NAIA's Concordia University-Nebraska but sit atop the DI ranks. The team sits behind four high school/interscholastic teams, placing them No. 5 among all programs. In 2026, there were 1,432 collegiate and high school programs that earned the award.
 
Criteria for the award requires programs to maintain a year-long team GPA of at least a 3.3. Indiana State was lead in the fall by five Sycamores named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team: Emily Weber, Kimora Whetstone, Avery Hales, Ella Scott, and Chloe Gilley. The Sycamores began this streak in the 1998-99 season.
