Men's basketball signs NAIA Second Team All-American Jackson Cooper

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State men's basketball head coach Matthew Graves announced the signing of Jackson Cooper.

Cooper is originally from Portland, Oregon and is transferring from NAIA's Oregon Tech, who went 19-11 one season ago with a 14-6 conference record. Cooper's team received an automatic bid to the NAIA Tournament this last season.

"We are super excited to welcome Jackson Cooper to the Indiana State family!" said head coach Matthew Graves. "He is a great player that has had a ton of success at the NAIA level at Oregon Tech. He will create mismatches on the offensive end and has a tremendous feel for the game. What really separates Jackson is his ability to see the play before it happens, and that will allow him to be successful as a hub within our offense. Most importantly, he is a great person and will add leadership to our team."

The 6-7 rising senior forward is coming off an NAIA Second Team All-American campaign. He led Oregon Tech in scoring (17.7), rebounds per game (7.7), and assists per game (5.8) while finishing seventh in the NAIA with 174 total assists.

Cooper says he chose Indiana State because of the community and his eagerness to play in Hulman Center. He stated Indiana State is the best place for him to have success and be a part of a championship-level program. Cooper says he brings high character and a big impact on winning into the program.

Cooper started all 30 games this season, shooting 56.6% from the field; he attempted only two three-pointers. He totaled 530 points, 232 rebounds in addition to his 174 assists with 41 steals and 10 in 33.4 minutes per game. Cooper made 112-of-155 from the free throw line (72.3%).

In his three-year career, he has amassed 1,019 points, 525 rebounds, 253 assists, 78 steals, and 25 blocks shooting 54.6% from the field and 67.0% from the line.
