Box Score 2 TERRE HAUTE, Ind - Indiana State split its opening day at the series against Bradley, starting the day with a 10-2 victory before falling 4-3 this Sunday.
The Sycamores started the day strong to lead game one, plating two runs in the bottom of the first after Madison Poulson doubled, followed by a Mallory Chavez home run. They kept the momentum going during the next inning; as Lauren Marsicek homered, Morgan Goodrich tripled, and Madison Poulson singled to bring her home.
Bradley responded right after, plating two runs during the top of the third, taking the score to a Sycamore lead of 4-2.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Indiana State exploded with six runs. Addie Burns homered for the first time in her college career, Hannah Welch scored on a fielding error while Claire Connely advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a Brailey Mills single, and both Paige Collie and Brailey Mills were brought home by a Lauren Marsicek double.
Indiana State settled defensively after the fourth inning, keeping the Braves off the board for the remainder of the game with Lauren Sackett on the circle.
Bradley opened the first inning of the second game with a home run that drove in two extra runs, putting the Braves on top 3-0.
Indiana State quickly responded in the bottom of the second inning with a Double from Claire Connelly, a single from Ireland Riley, and a single from Morgan Goodrich that drove Connelly home.
Bradley drove in their fourth run during the third inning with a sacrifice fly, while the Sycamores drove their second after Emi Jeras walked; Hannah Welch doubled, and Claire Connelly singled.
After Indiana State's defensive efforts with three Caylee Gaytan strikeouts during the fourth inning, and a third run out of a sacrifice fly, the Sycamores weren't able to even the scoreboard for the remainder of the game.
