TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State scored 16 unanswered runs highlighted by
Emil Estrella's two grand slams and nine RBIs as the Sycamore offense powered past Bradley on Sunday afternoon at Bob Warn Field to secure the series with the 18-10 win.
The Sycamores (10-13, 2-1) trailed 10-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning as Bradley (5-18, 1-2) put on an offensive showcase early. The Braves scored five runs in the fourth inning highlighted by AJ Garcia's grand slam, while Hayden Miller and Jaxon Schumacher both homered in a four-run fifth to keep the momentum on the guests early.
Indiana State's rally started against Bradley reliever Drew Politte as
Caden Miller,
Nick Sutherlin, and
John Curl all singled to load the bases with one out.
Colin Sander drove in the first two Sycamore runs of the frame on an RBI fielder's choice as a Bradley error allowed both Miller and Sutherlin to both score on the play.
Indiana State loaded the bases again on
Nomar Garcia's single. Two batters later,
Carter Beck drew a bases-loaded walk to plate Curl.
Emil Estrella followed with a grand slam over the right field wall off reliever Joey Cirelli (1-2) to cut the Sycamore deficit down to 10-9. Three batters later,
Andrew Ortiz drove in
Caden Miller to tie the game up at 10-10.
Carson Seeman (1-0) entered in relief in the top of the seventh and shut the Bradley offense down thanks in part to
Caden Miller throwing out Landon Lowe attempting to steal. The Sycamores followed in the bottom half of the frame with
Emil Estrella connecting on the two-out RBI single to left field scoring
Colin Sander to put Indiana State ahead 11-10.
After another scoreless frame from Seeman, Indiana State secured the game with a seven-run rally in the bottom of the eighth inning as 12 batters came up to the plate in building an 18-10 lead.
Emil Estrella added his second grand slam of the day during the rally, while
Caleb Niehaus and
Nick Sutherlin both drove in RBIs.
Andrew Ortiz added a steal of home plate to help provide the final scoring margin.
Nine different Indiana State players hit safely in the contest with seven Sycamores connecting on multi-hit efforts in the win.
Emil Estrella powered the way going 3-for-6 with two grand slams, nine RBIs, and two runs scored, while
Nick Sutherlin posted a career-high four hits in the win.
Colin Sander added his first collegiate home run and scored three runs on the afternoon.
Landon Lowe went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI in leading Bradley's offensive efforts in the game. AJ Garcia, Hayden Miller, and Jaxon Schumacher all homered in the loss.
Joey Cirelli (1-2) took the loss on the mound allowing four hits and four runs (one earned), while walking one and striking out two. Robert Sanford went 5.0 innings allowing four hits and two runs while striking out 11 in the start. Drew Politte, Ryan Schaffnit, Davis Webb, and Diego Menjivar all saw time on the mound in the loss.

- Landon Lowe connected on an RBI single up the middle bringing home Luke Skinner and AJ Garcia connected on a grand slam over the right field wall to put Bradley ahead 5-0 in the top of the fourth inning.
- The Braves added to their lead in the top of the fifth as Hayden Miller and Jaxon Schumacher both homered in the inning, while Landon Lowe added an RBI single to put Bradley ahead 9-0.
- Indiana State took two back on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth as Colin Sander homered to left center, while Nomar Garcia scored on Carter Beck's RBI single to right field to cut the deficit down to 9-2.
- Bradley added to the lead in the top of the sixth inning as an Indiana State error allowed Sohrab Rezaei to score on the play to put the Braves ahead 10-2.
- The Sycamores rallied back in the bottom of the sixth as Indiana State sent 13 batters to the plate in tying the game up at 10-10. Colin Sander (RBI fielder's choice) and Carter Beck (RBI walk) drove in the first two runs in the inning, before Emil Estrella connected on a grand slam to clear the bases and make it a 10-9 contest. Andrew Ortiz tied the game up with a bunt single scoring Caden Miller to even the contest.

Tracy Archuleta. The Sycamores will play 21 home games inside Bob Warn Field this season, starting on March 4 against Lindenwood.
Reserved chairback season tickets can be purchased for $110. General admission season tickets will go on sale as well with adult ($75), seniors ($55), and youth ($40) tickets also being available for purchase. There will be a $5 surcharge added to those wanting tickets printed.
The Sycamores have teamed up with Pacesetter Sports and the Spirit Shop for the third consecutive season for a season ticket deal. Fans will receive a $50 Pacesetter gift card for each $110 reserved chairback season ticket, $35 gift card for each $75 general admission season ticket, $25 gift card for each $55 senior general admission ticket, and $20 gift card for each $40 youth season ticket sold.
