NASSAU, Bahamas –
Ty Brooks gave the Sycamores seven strong innings and
Carter Beck scored twice as Indiana State secured the series win over Penn State on Saturday afternoon inside Andre Rodgers National Baseball Stadium, 2-1.
The Sycamores (6-5) struck first on
Caden Miller's RBI single to right field in the bottom of the fourth inning to stake Indiana State to the 1-0 lead. Penn State (2-6) responded with Spencer Barnett's solo home run in the top of the fifth, but the Sycamores rallied back in the bottom of the eighth to retake the lead.
Carter Beck and
Nick Sutherlin connected on back-to-back two-out doubles in the bottom of the eighth to swing the advantage back to the Sycamores.
Penn State mounted a rally late as Bryce Molinaro and Jayden Davis drew back-to-back walks to open the top of the ninth. Indiana State reliever
Justin Hoff (S, 1) entered the game and was able to get a double play ball to record the first two outs of the inning, before Kevin Karstetter grounded out to second base to secure his first save of the season.
Sutherlin recorded a pair of hits to highlight the Indiana State offense in the pitchers' duel on Saturday afternoon.
Carter Beck added two runs scored and a stolen base, while Sutherlin and
Caleb Niehaus added steals in the game.
Brooks surrendered just three hits and one run while striking out eight over 7.0 innings of work. The sophomore right-hander retired nine of his last 10 batters before turning the ball over to the bullpen in the eighth.
Colby Morse (2-0) worked a scoreless eighth inning but surrendered the ball to Hoff in the ninth for the save.
Spencer Barnett recorded two of Penn State's four hits in the loss, including his solo homerun in the fifth.
Ben Hudson (1-2) took the loss on the mound allowing six hits and two runs while striking out seven in 7.2 innings of work. Ben DeMell went the final 0.1 innings.

- Nick Sutherlin added to his team-leading RBI total with the go-ahead RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning. He has 12 through the first 11 games on the season.
- Caden Miller reached double-digit RBIs on the season with 10 on the year.
- Carter Beck extended his on-base streak to 16 consecutive games after reaching base twice and scoring both Indiana State runs in the game.
- Justin Hoff became the third different Sycamore to record a save on the season after retiring the final two outs in the top of the ninth inning.
- The Sycamores claimed the inaugural Atlantis Collegiate Baseball Series with wins over Penn State in each of the first two games.

Season tickets for the 2026 Indiana State baseball season are now on sale as the Sycamores head into their second season under Head Coach
Tracy Archuleta. The Sycamores will play 21 home games inside Bob Warn Field this season, starting on March 4 against Lindenwood.
Reserved chairback season tickets can be purchased for $110. General admission season tickets will go on sale as well with adult ($75), seniors ($55), and youth ($40) tickets also being available for purchase. There will be a $5 surcharge added to those wanting tickets printed.
The Sycamores have teamed up with Pacesetter Sports and the Spirit Shop for the third consecutive season for a season ticket deal. Fans will receive a $50 Pacesetter gift card for each $110 reserved chairback season ticket, $35 gift card for each $75 general admission season ticket, $25 gift card for each $55 senior general admission ticket, and $20 gift card for each $40 youth season ticket sold.
