Sycamores struggle in road setback at Murray State

MURRAY, Ky. – Clemisha Prackett registered a 21-point, 18-rebound double-double Thursday night, but Indiana State was overwhelmed by Murray State's high-powered offense in a 115-67 defeat inside the CFSB Center.

Prackett tallied career highs in both points and rebounds, while Da'Naria Washington and Tierney Kelsey added 16 points apiece.

After keeping pace for the first 12 minutes of the game Murray State used a late second quarter run to take a double-digit lead into the intermission. The Racers fully broke things open in the third, outscoring the Sycamores 39-12 in the period on their way to at least a share of the MVC regular season title.

First Half
Washington opened the scoring for the Sycamores with a pair of early baskets, with Prackett tacking on four points in a 75-second span as the Trees kept pace early on. A three from Allen had Indiana State within a pair midway through the quarter before an 8-2 Racer run pushed their advantage back out. Washington converted on a fastbreak layup with just over a minute remaining, but the Sycamores faced a 27-18 deficit after one.

Back-to-back baskets from Tierney Kelsey, along with a fastbreak layup from Allen, kept Indiana State within eight early in the second, but a 9-2 run for the home side followed as Murray State extended its lead to double-digits. Washington took advantage of a late turnover inside the final minute, converting on a layup to bring the Trees within 48-31 at the break.

Second Half
An early basket from Prackett was the only positive thing to occur for the Sycamores early, as Murray State broke open the game with a 26-4 run spanning the first six-plus minutes of the frame. Two baskets each from Amerie Flowers and Kelsey momentarily stopped the bleeding, but the damage was already done as Indiana State trailed 87-43 at the end of the third quarter.

Murray State carried its momentum into the fourth quarter, opening the period with an 8-0 run before Kayla Smith knocked down a three. Prackett did most of her damage in the fourth, nearly recording a double-double in just the last 10 minutes of the game, but the contest was well out of reach. The Racers kept their foot on the gas pedal to the end, claiming a share of the MVC regular season title with a 115-67 win over the Sycamores.
