SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Grace Cummings recorded Indiana State's first event win in program history at the Tim Welsh Classic, highlighting five top three finishes for the Sycamores on the opening day of the two-day meet held at the Rolfs Aquatic Center.
Cummings topped the field in the 500-yard Freestyle with the freshman touching the wall in 4:47.90 to win the event. Cummings (200 Free),
Erin Cummins (500 Free),
Ali Pearson (100 Breast), and the Sycamores' 800-yard Freestyle Relay team also added top three results over the opening day of the meet.
Friday Evening Session
Indiana State utilized a trio of third-place finishes in the pool in the evening session on Friday inside the Rolfs Aquatic Center to close out the opening day of the Tim Welsh Classic.
Grace Cummings (200 Free),
Ali Pearson (100 Breast), and the 800-yard Freestyle Relay all finished inside the top three in their specific events.
Indiana State opened the night with the 200-yard Medley Relay as the quartet of
Sara Keefe,
Ali Pearson,
Raine Boles, and
Kaleigh Kelley finished seventh overall in the field with a time of 1:43.11. The second group of
Kate Reeves,
Jenna Nave, Allie Barasch, and
Kalli Agapios finished 11th in 1:46.09, while the final quartet of
Anna Asplund,
Peyton Heagy,
Sophia Diaz, and Ash Saple placed 12th in 1:47.67.
Maria Saldana Riebeling was the Sycamores' top finisher in the 400-yard IM as the sophomore placed eighth overall in 4:25.05.
Gemma Dilks (4:29.94) added a top 10 finish, while
Ella Moustgaard placed 12th in 4:34.89.
The 100-yard Fly saw four Sycamores finish inside the top 11 in the field with
Erin Cummins pacing the way in seventh place with a time of 55.19.
Addison Johnson was two spots back with a 55.28, while
Kaleigh Kelley (55.35) and
Raine Boles (55.57) rounded out the top four in the field.
Sophia Diaz (56.31) and
Raz Harel (56.94) both finished inside the top 16 in the field.
Kiarra Thomas (57.47), Allie Barasch (57.94), and Becca Shaffer (58.19) all finished inside the top 25.
Grace Cummings continued a standout first day of the Tim Welsh Classic as the freshman finished tied for third in the field in the 200-yard Freestyle with a time of 1:50.34.
Peyton Heagy was 12th overall in 1:53.43, while
Rachel Stutz (1:57.02) and Ash Saple (1:58.24) were in the mix in the field.
Ali Pearson continued to sit among event's leaders in the 100-yard Breaststroke as the graduate student finished third overall in the field in 1:01.80.
Jenna Nave added a top 10 finish in 1:04.59.
Sara Keefe led four Sycamores inside the top 15 in the 100-yard Backstroke field as the freshman was the first Indiana State swimmer to the wall, touching in 56.89.
Kate Reeves was two spots behind her teammate in 57.22, while
Raz Harel (57.65) and
Anna Asplund (57.67) were right behind.
Ella Moustgaard (57.95) and
Kalli Agapios (1:00.73) rounded out the Sycamore athletes in the field.
Indiana State wrapped up the events in the pool on Friday night with the 800-yard Freestyle Relay. The Sycamores added another top three finish in the field as the quartet of
Erin Cummins,
Grace Cummings,
Peyton Heagy, and
Maria Saldana Riebeling touched the wall in 7:22.60. The second group of
Haley Halsall,
Gemma Dilks,
Anna Asplund, and
Addison Johnson finished ninth in 7:38.87.
Jecza Lopez took on the field in the 1M Springboard diving event on Friday afternoon. The junior diver finished sixth overall in the field with a score of 277.00 following her six dives.

Friday Morning Session
Grace Cummings picked up Indiana State's first win of the 2026 Tim Welsh Classic on Friday morning as the freshman topped the field in the 500-yard Freestyle, highlighting the Sycamores' efforts in the pool on the opening day of the meet. Cummings' win marked the first Indiana State event victory in program history at the Tim Welsh Classic.
The Sycamores started the meet with the 200-yard Freestyle Relay as the top group of
Kaleigh Kelley,
Raine Boles,
Erin Cummins, and
Kalli Agapios set a new season-best with a time of 1:32.17 to finish fourth overall in the field. The quartet knocked .20 off their previous time to finish with the fifth-best time in the Indiana State All-Time Performance List.
The second group of
Rachel Stutz,
Addison Johnson, Allie Barasch, and Ash Saple placed eighth in the field in 1:35.25, while the final group of
Sophia Diaz,
Kate Reeves,
Raz Harel, and Becca Shaffer finished 12th in the field in 1:39.02.
Cummings highlighted the morning session with a personal-best time of 4:47.90 in the 500-yard Freestyle to win the event by .61 over Notre Dame's Emily Hamill.
Erin Cummins was two spots back in third place in 4:51.28, while
Haley Halsall (5:00.74) and
Maria Saldana Riebeling (5:02.46) both recorded top 16 finishes.
Peyton Heagy (5:02.84) and
Anna Asplund (5:04.71) were both inside the top 20 in the field.
Ali Pearson posted a new season-best in the 200-yard IM to lead the Sycamores in the morning event. The graduate student was 12th in the field in 2:04.83, while
Gemma Dilks (2:07.85),
Ella Moustgaard (2:08.18),
Sara Keefe (2:10.48),
Jenna Nave (2:10.75), and
Sophia Diaz (2:10.80) all finished inside the top 25.
Kiarra Thomas (2:11.63),
Raz Harel (2:11.63), and Becca Shaffer (2:15.43) finished inside the top 30 in the field.
Kaleigh Kelley was first for Indiana State in the 50-yard Freestyle event as the junior placed sixth overall in the field in 23.46.
Raine Boles was .04 behind her teammate in 23.51 to place seventh in the field, while
Kalli Agapios (23.98),
Addison Johnson (24.09), and Ash Saple (24.20) all finished inside the top 15.
Rachel Stutz (24.24) was in the top 20, while Allie Barasch (24.35) and
Kate Reeves (24.99) all went sub-25.00 in the field.
Indiana State closed out the morning session with the top team of

Kaleigh Kelley finishing seventh in the field in 3:44.86. The team of

Rachel Stutz placed 15th in 3:57.62.
Jecza Lopez was the lone Sycamore to advance to the 1M Springboard finals as the junior placed fourth overall in the preliminary round with a score of 274.75.
Brenna Woodruff was 13th in 233.55, while
Sofia Dansereau (230.60) and
Ella Taylor (229.10) added top 15 results.
Bree Cleary rounded out the group in 17th with 221.90.
