Box Score CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Indiana State battled back from a two-goal deficit in the second half to earn a 3-3 draw against Northern Iowa on Saturday afternoon at the UNI Soccer Field.
The Sycamores struck first at 23:04 when Alex Lehnert finished to the bottom left corner, assisted by Lina Fasquelle. UNI responded quickly, as Olivia Knoepfle equalized less than two minutes later with a strike to the top right corner. The Panthers then seized momentum after halftime, with Olivia Bohl scoring in the 47th and Allison Flies adding another in the 53rd to put UNI ahead 3-1.
Indiana State refused to go away, pushing numbers forward in the final 15 minutes. Tori Angelo pulled one back at 84:48 with a shot to the top left corner off a setup from Lehnert. Just three minutes later, Avery Oergel delivered, notching her first goal of the season with a low finish to the center of the goal, assisted by Alex Lehnert, to bring the match level at 3-3.
The Sycamores nearly found the winner in the closing moments, with Brooklyn Woods and Anna Chor both testing UNI's goalkeeper Buntenbach, but the match ended level after a frantic finish.
Indiana State outshot UNI 17-15, with Lehnert leading the way with five attempts. Goalkeeper Delaney Timmons tallied four saves, including a key stop in the 89th minute to preserve the draw.
