Sycamores sign Central Michigan's Hunter Harding

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State men's basketball head coach Matthew Graves has announced Hunter Harding as the newest signee to the 2025-26 squad.

Hunter, brother of current Sycamore Markus Harding, is a 7-1 junior forward/center coming from Central Michigan. Hailing from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, he spent the last two seasons at CMU after spending high school at Royal Crown Academy.

"We are excited to welcome Hunter to Indiana State," said Coach Graves. "Hunter is a talented and skilled inside/outside big that has a high ceiling. He will help add to our team and we are excited to get him to campus and get to work. Having his brother Markus in our program, we know we will get another student-athlete with high character from a great family."

Harding played 29 total games for CMU, totaling 71 points, 50 rebounds, seven blocks, and four steals shooting 54.7% from the field.

At Royal Crown, he led the team to the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA) championship in both his junior and senior seasons. In the 2022 Canada Summer Games, he played for the U18 Team Ontario that went 5-0 to win the Gold Medal. The junior was rated a top five player in Canada, also played for Overtime Elite and NUStep Ballers.

Harding said he was happy to be playing with his brother again (Hunter and Markus played together at Central Michigan in 2023-24). "A very high IQ player, not really selfish," Harding said when asked about his play style. "I can stretch the court – can pick and pop. Not scared to bang in the paint; going to be a dog for the team… do a little bit of everything."

Harding noted that an aspect of his signing to the Sycamores was due to the community – he heard about the good energy and supportiveness from the fans and the community in general.

Harding in 2024-25 played in seven games, starting four, scoring 30 points. He made 13-of-18 from the field and 4-of-5 from the charity stripe, grabbing 11 rebounds in 69 minutes of action.

Harding will be joining the Sycamores later this summer to prepare for the 2025-26 season. He intends to pursue a degree in social work.
