TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State men's basketball head coach
Matthew Graves announced the signing of Zyair Greene to the 2025-26 roster.
Greene has spent the last four years at Georgia College & State University, a NCAA Division II university in Milledgeville, Ga. The 6-3 native of Atlanta, Ga. plans to study psychology while at Indiana State.
Greene led GCSU in scoring with 19.8 PPG in 24 games played, making 39.1% (144-368) from the field and 38.8% (81-209) from three. From the charity stripe, he hit at an 84.3% clip (107-127). He grabbed 104 total rebounds in 24 games last season. Greene was tabbed as the player of the week four times in the season.
Greene stated one of the reasons he chose Indiana State was due to the belief the staff had in him. Other factors that enticed him were the community and atmosphere behind Indiana State Basketball.
"My personality, my shooting abilities, my scoring abilities, … and competitiveness," are the traits Greene said Sycamore fans have to be excited about when he comes to Terre Haute.
Greene played at GCSU all four years of his career. The incoming graduate transfer noted that having different obstacles over the last four years and having to overcome adversity are experiences he'll be able to bring to the table.
"Zyair is a dynamic guard with a special ability to score and shoot the ball, said Coach Graves. "He will have an immediate impact on our team on and off the court. We are elated that he will be joining us as a Sycamore."
His 19.8 PPG finished third in the Peach Belt Conference. He finished second in the league of qualified athletes in three-point percentage per game, while he led the league in threes per game (3.4). The senior was fifth in the PBC in free throw percentage.
Greene ended his last season with four 20-plus-point games (24, 21, 26, 28). In the final two games, he made five three-pointers each. In his 26-point game, he added 10 rebounds for his only double-double of his career.
In his last eight games of the season, he attempted 68 free throws (8.5 attempts per game), making 59 for an 86.8% rate.
Earlier in the year, Greene shined with 33 points in a win, making 11-of-15 field goal attempts and knocking down 9-of-12 from downtown.
For Greene's career at GCSU, he totaled 794 points, 163 rebounds, and 76 assists. He's a career 38.2% shooter from the field, 36.7% from three, and 83.0% from the line. He appeared in 71 total games.
