INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana State sophomore sprinter Casey Hood Jr. officially qualified for the 2025 NCAA Indoor National Championships, as he was announced among the top 16 60m times in the nation Wednesday morning.
 
Hood Jr. will represent the Sycamores in the 60m dash March 14-15 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He joins JaVaughn Moore as the only Sycamores to qualify for the indoor national championships in the men's 60m, and becomes the 32nd athlete in program history to qualify for the NCAA Indoor National Championships.
 
The 2025 MVC Most Outstanding Men's Indoor Track Athlete, Hood Jr. ran a blazing time of 6.57 in 60m prelims Sunday at the 2025 MVC Indoor Championships in Chicago. He won his second straight MVC title in the event with a 6.60 in Monday's finals. Hood Jr. also captured the 200m conference title Monday afternoon with a time of 21.21. He was named the MVC Men's Track Athlete of the Week a conference-leading four times this season, including three straight weeks in February leading to the conference championships.
 
Hood Jr.'s season has been nothing short of remarkable, having run eight 60m times under 6.65 this season. His best time of 6.57 ranks second in program history, just one-hundredth of a second off the program and conference record set by JaVaughn Moore, another Sycamore indoor All-American, back in 2023. He also ranks third in program history in the 200m with a career-best time of 21.14, which was run in February.
 
Hood Jr. will compete in 60m prelims March 14 at 7:18 p.m., with the top eight advancing to finals March 15 at 6:10 p.m.
