ST. LOUIS – Indiana State men's basketball senior
Samage Teel was selected to the All-MVC First Team and the All-Newcomer Team, announced by the league office Wednesday morning.
Teel was the only Sycamore to start each game this season. He averaged 17.1 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game, and 5.2 assists per game shooting 47.9% from the field, 35.5% from three, and 79.3% from the free throw line. He played 1,046 minutes this season, 246 more minutes than the second-most.
With the numbers, he led the team in points per game, assists per game, and total steals (37). He finished second in the MVC in points per game, seventh in field goal percentage, ninth in free throw percentage, and third in assists per game, playing the 12th-most minutes of all Valley players. In MVC play alone, he averaged 17.5 points per game and 5.7 assists.
Teel scored a career high 36 points making six threes in a home win against Illinois State. This game marked the most single-game points by a Sycamore since 2006. He recorded 15 games with 20+ points, 15 games with 5+ rebounds, 15 games with 5+ assists, and five games with nine-plus assists.
On two occasions he recorded 11 assists, setting a career high. On November 16 at Ball State he finished with a double-double of 14 points and 11 assists, and later in the season against Belmont he notched 11 assists with six rebounds.
The Greenville, N.C. native earned Newcomer of the Week four times throughout the season.
The Sycamores hit the court on Thursday, March 6 for the Opening Round of the 2025 MVC Tournament. Indiana State played Southern Illinois at 1 p.m. ET at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, aired on ESPN+ and 105.5 The Legend.
