Men's basketball announces two graduate assistants for upcoming seasons

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State basketball announces two graduate assistants joining the Sycamore staff for the next two years: Carter Stoltzfus and Caleb Swearingen.
 
Carter Stoltzfus
Stoltzfus is a native of Middlebury, Ind., a graduate of Northridge High School. In both 2019 and 2020 he and his high school team won the sectional championship, where Stoltzfus' senior-year team finished 18-5. He averaged 19.3 points per game and hit 86 triples at a 41% clip his senior year. He scored 998 career points and made 191 triples before moving onto college basketball at Grace College (NAIA), and a teammate of Ian Scott.
 
At Grace in four years, he played in 140 games totaling 670 points, 365 assists (2.6 APG), 383 rebounds (2.7 RPG), and 145 steals. Stoltzfus finished his collegiate career with a 3.26 assist-to-turnover ratio, where in his junior year he finished No. 4 in the country with a plus 4.0 assist-to-turnover ratio. Stoltzfus was voted a team captain his junior and senior year. He and Grace went 121-21, which is the most wins in Grace history over a four-year span. They also won the conference tournament four years in a row (first time in conference history). Grace made appearances in the national tournament all four years, with a Final Four appearance his junior year.
 
Caleb Swearingen
Swearingen is a Brazil, Ind. product, graduating from Northview High School. In 2021, his team won the sectional championship and made it to the regional final. Swearingen's senior-year team finished 18-8. He scored 1,333 points in his high school career before moving onto college basketball at Olivet Nazarene.
 
He played in 126 games in his career at Olivet Nazarene, starting 95. He is a career 1,056-point scorer, shooting 47.1% from the floor and nearly 34% from three in the four years. He grabbed 523 rebounds (4.2 RPG) and dished out 186 assists (1.5 APG). Swearingen totaled 92 career wins at Olivet Nazarene.
