ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Indiana State defensive back
Kimal Clark was recognized as the Missouri Valley Football Conference's Newcomer of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Clark led the Sycamores' defense with a season-high 15-tackle game this past weekend against North Dakota State, adding 0.5 tackles-for-loss in the contest against the Bison. The Lackawanna, N.Y. native is currently second in the MVFC in both total tackles (73) and tackles per game (10.43) through the first seven games of the season.
Clark recorded eight of his 15 tackles in the first half as the Sycamores battled the Bison to a standstill over the first 30 minutes. He recorded his lone tackle-for-loss in the second quarter as a key stop that ended an NDSU drive, while he dotted the field throughout the second half following the two-hour rain delay at Memorial Stadium.
The redshirt senior safety becomes the fifth Indiana State player to receive one of the conference's weekly awards this season.
