TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State women's soccer hits the road this weekend for a matchup against the Bears of Missouri State with kickoff scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
Sycamore Standouts:
The Sycamores are (1-0-1) in MVC play where they are ranked third in the Valley with four points after two games of play.
Indiana State defeated Valparaiso last week when Alex Lehnert connected on her fourth goal of the season in the 16th minute of the match to lead the Sycamores to a victory and earn Missouri Valley Women's soccer freshman of the week.
ISU recorded a 1-1 draw in their most recent matchup on Thursday evening when they hosted Southern Illinois.
Wimberley Wright connected on her second goal of the 2024 season in the 1-1 draw when she broke open a scoreless tie in the 73rd minute after she collected a pass from Lehnert and sent the ball past SIU keeper to take the lead.
Southern Illinois found the equalizer as they picked up a late goal in the 87th minute to tie up the contest.
Maddie Alexander's two saves in Thursday night's contest marks 300 career saves for the Battle Creek, Mich. native. Alexander has 54 saves in the 2024 season as she has been the primary keeper for the Sycamores, picking up 945 minutes in goal where she is ranked sixth in the nation in save percentage (91.5%) and ninth in shutouts (6).
The Sycamores defense has held strong this season, as they have recorded three team saves, including a save their most recent matchup against SIU where they prevented the Salukis from taking the lead in the 59th minute of the matchup at Memorial Stadium.
Lehnert continues to remain a threat offensively as the freshman is tied for second in the MVC in points (10) and goals scored (4). The New Lenox, Ill. native has started in seven games in the 2024 season as she records 21 shots, with 13 on goal.
Seniors, Mackey and Kent continue to pace the Sycamores as they are tied for fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference in shots (22) averaging two a game. Mackey ranks 30th in the NCAA in shot accuracy (.636) with 14 on target and three goals.

Scouting Missouri State:
The Missouri State women's soccer team was picked first in the Missouri Valley Conference coaches preseason poll, the league announced in August. The Bears (4-4-3, 2-0-1) enter Sunday's contest in first place (7 points) with MVC victories over Drake and Northern Iowa, and a draw against the Aces of Evansville.
Kirk Nelson enters his third season at the helm as the women's soccer head coach for the Bears. In his second season as head coach, Nelson recorded a 12 win season with a final record of 12-2-5. In Missouri Valley Conference play, the Bears were undefeated with a 7-0-3 mark and a four-game winning streak to end the regular season.
Julia Kristensen leads the Bears with four goals scored and nine points, while recording 13 shots with eight on target this season.
Camielle Day has been the Missouri State primary keeper this season, starting and playing in ten of the 11 matches. Day records 42 saves and has allowed 16 goals for the Bears.
