EUGENE, Ore. – Indiana State senior
Elias Foor picked up Second Team All-America honors in the discus throw Friday night, placing 15th in the event at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships at Hayward Field.
Foor's top mark of the evening came in his third attempt, and vaulted him into the top 15 in his NCAA Championships debut. It also represented an improvement by more than 10 meters from his second attempt of the day.
In addition to the All-America honors, Foor's finish was the highest by a Sycamore men's thrower at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships since Brandon Pounds' sixth-place finish in the hammer throw in 2012.
Friday's result wraps up a season for the ages for Foor, who put up top-10 marks in program history in three of the four throws disciplines in 2024. He was the MVC Most Valuable Athlete after putting up 26 points at the MVC Outdoor Championships, scoring in all four throws events with three top-three finishes. Foor won the discus at the conference championships, and his season-best mark of 59.51 (195-03) at Eastern Illinois in March ranked in the top 40 among all American athletes, including professionals, this season. He also set the Gibson Track and Field Complex record in the event with a throw of 59.30m (194-07) in April.
