TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State women's track & field's Rachel Mehringer was named this week's Mark Clinkenbeard Construction ISU Student-Athlete of the Week as announced by the athletic department on Monday afternoon.
 
Mehringer shattered Indiana State's school record in the 100m as part of a standout weekend at the Gibson Invitational. Competing at the Gibson Track and Field Complex for the first time as a Sycamore, Mehringer ran a wind-legal time of 13.38 in cold conditions to set the school record in just her fifth outdoor collegiate meet.
 
Mehringer's time beat the previous school record, which had stood for a decade, by one-tenth of a second. She also clocked a 200m time of 25.32, her second-fastest in the event in her career.
 
Mehringer ranks first in the conference in the 100m hurdles, running the only time under 13.50 in the MVC. Her hurdles time also ranks fourth in the Great Lakes region, 33rd in NCAA East Region qualifying and 60th nationally in the event. Mehringer's 200m time also ranks in the top 15 in The Valley.
 
The Mark Clinkenbeard Construction ISU Student-Athlete of the Week will be announced every Monday afternoon throughout the 2023-24 athletic season.
