TERRE HAUTE, Ind.- The Sycamores won the first game of the series on Friday afternoon against Illinois State with a score of 2-1.
The Redbirds took the lead 1-0 in the second inning with bases loaded, and Bryant connected on a sacrifice fly drive in the first run of the game.
Indiana State tied up the game 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Isabella Henning recorded an RBI single to left field, to score a run from Macha.
ISU combined for six hits on Friday afternoon against Illinois State's Meshnick (7-12). Abby Robakowski led the Sycamores, where she went 2-3 in the victory over Illinois state. Ana Macha made one appearance at the plate, where she recorded a hit and a run scored for the Sycamores.
The Sycamores took the lead over the Redbirds with a score of 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning when freshman Kenzie Cornwell and Haley Webb each connected on doubles, and knocked in a run to put the Sycamores ahead.
Lauren Sackett (8-10) took the victory in the circle for Indiana State, where she threw a complete game, while allowing only four hits and one run scored in the 2-1 victory on Friday afternoon. Sackett struckout seven batters, which makes for 73 in the 2024 season.
