TERRE HAUTE, IND.- Indiana State fell to Bradley with a score of 4-2 in game one of the three game series on Friday afternoon.
Bradley scored one run in the first inning to take the early lead over the Sycamores when Tori Meyer led off with a double and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Lauren DeRol. Meyer scored when Baily Sampl grounded out to shortstop to take the 1-0 lead over Indiana State.
The Sycamores scored both of their runs in the second inning to take the 2-1 lead over the Braves. Kenzie Cornwell started off inning two with a single, and Livi Colip was walked. Cornwell and Colip advanced bases on a wild pitch by Sydney Kennedy before Bri Marx connected on a sacrifice fly, which drove in two runs for Indiana State to take the lead.
Bradley scored their final three runs in the third inning when they recorded five hits which advanced their lead to 4-2 over Indiana State. Meyer led off inning three with a double, DeRol was walked, and Sampl connected on a 2 RBI single to drive in two runs for the Braves. Sampl scored the final run for Bradley with an RBI single by Badgl to cause a pitching change for Indiana State. Hailey Griffin took over in the circle for the Sycamores in the middle of the third inning and struck out the first batter she faced. With bases loaded, the Sycamore defense was able to close out the inning.
Indiana State recorded five hits in the loss against Bradley's Sydney Kennedy (7-4). Abi Chipps led the Sycamores with two hits, as Kennedy Shade, Kenzie Cornwell, and Luci Kapelka each recorded one.
Lauren Sackett (6-6) took the loss in the circle for Indiana State in 2.1 innings of work, allowing six hits, four runs scored, while striking out two. Hailey Griffin took over the ball in the third inning where she allowed only one hit, zero runs scored, and struck out two batters in the loss.
