TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State Softball will travel to Clarksville, Tenn. this weekend to compete in the Governors Classic hosted by Austin Peay, where play begins on Friday, March 1. 

The Sycamores will play five games throughout the weekend, beginning with a matchup at 11:30 a.m. ET against IUPUI and to wrap up Friday's play the Sycamores will take on SLU at 2 p.m. ET. On Saturday, ISU will play twice again, first taking on Ohio at 11a.m. ET and then turning around to play Austin Peay at 4 p.m. ET. ISU will wrap up their weekend Sunday morning with another matchup against Ohio at 11 a.m. ET. 

Last Time Out
The Sycamores went 4-1 last weekend in Memphis, Tenn. with wins over Tenn.Tech, Memphis, SIUE (twice), and falling to Tenn.Tech. on Saturday night. Indiana State now holds an overall record of 8-6 on the 2024 season. Indiana State recorded their third five-inning run rule of the season against Tennessee Tech with a score of 13-0. 

• Abby Robakowski tied game one against SIUE to go into extra innings when she hit her first collegiate home run. 
• Danielle Henning went 4-4 on Saturday's game in the 3-2 victory over Memphis. 
• Kennedy Shade recorded seven hits and six RBIs this weekend in Memphis, with a .467 batting average. Shade drove in two of the three runs with an RBI single and RBI double in the 3-2 victory over Memphis. Shade went 2-2 against SIUE where she drove in three of the four runs in the 4-1 victory over the Cougars.
• Lauren Sackett threw 11.1 innings this weekend in Memphis where she went 1-0 defeating Memphis, and recorded a save against SIUE. Sackett struck out 13 batters over the weekend, where she allowed only five hits and three runs scored. 

The Opponents- IUPUI

• Coached by Elisabeth Berine who is entering her eighth season as head coach for IUPUI. 
• Sycamores lead the all time series 24-12 over the Jaguars.
• 2-12 record this season. 
• Returning for the Jaguars is junior Kendal Calvert who led the 2023 team at the plate with a .369 batting average with four doubles, four triples and one home run. Calvert was one of the top scorers with 24 runs where she collected 12 RBIs. The outfielder led the team on the bases with 11 stolen bases and an on base percentage of .391 where she recorded 12 multi-hit games.

The Opponents- Saint Louis University

• 2023 Atlantic 10 Conference Coach of the Year, Christy Connoyer, is entering her 14th season as head coach for SLU. 
• Indiana State and SLU had a matchup previously this season in Nashville, Tenn. where the Billikens defeated the Sycamores 5-1. 
• 6-4 record this season.  
• Sophomore Abby Mallo returns for the Billikens after being selected for the All Region Third team, All-Conference team, & A-10 All-Rookie team in 2023. Mallo is ranked 10th in RBIs per game (1.12), 71st in home runs per game (0.25) in the national rankings. 

The Opponents- Ohio University

• Coached by Jenna Hall who is entering her second season as head coach for Ohio. 
• The Bobcats lead the all time series 2-0 against the Sycamores. 
• 10-5 record this season. 
• Tori O'Brien returns for the Bobcats, O'Brien was named to the 2023 Academic All-District Team and Named Second Team All-MAC. In her 2023 season, O'Brien finished with a .321 batting average with 35 hits, scored 16 runs, recorded eight RBIs and drew eight walks.

• Coached by Kassie Stanfill who is entering her sixth season as head coach for Austin Peay.
• Only matchup between Austin Peay and Indiana State was held in 2017 when the Sycamores won 17-5 over the Governors. 
• 5-6 record this season. 
• Junior Kylie Campbell returns for the Austin Peay roster this season. Campbell was named to the All-ASUN Conference Third Team in 2023. Campbell led the team and ASUN conference in triples (5) which ranks eighth-most in a single season in program history. Cambell she set the program single season record for fielding percentage with no errors in 325 chances, and had four game-winning hits in 2023.
