TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Indiana State men's basketball got back to receiving votes in the national rankings on Monday, picking up votes in both the
AP Top 25 and the
USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.
The Sycamores earned a point in the AP poll and two points in the Coaches Poll after a 2-0 week in the Missouri Valley. Last week's poll (February 19) was the first time in the new year that ISU was left off the two polls without receiving any votes; ISU earned its spot first on the Coaches Poll on January 2 and remained until last week. Two weeks ago (February 12) the Sycamores received national rankings in both polls, landing at No. 23 in the AP poll and No. 24 in the Coaches Poll.
In the
CollegeInsider.com mid-major poll this week, Indiana State jumped two spots to No. 4, trailing Saint Mary's, Gonzaga, and Appalachian State. Outside of three-straight No. 1 weeks in the poll, this is the second-highest ranking held by the Sycamores. When ISU took over the No. 1 spot, it jumped from fifth to first.
In the 2-0 week, Indiana State traveled to Valparaiso and won 83-64 then defeated UIC at home 88-73. ISU heads to Evansville this Wednesday then hosts Murray State on Sunday at home for Senior Day.
